Project: Momentum

Let's start at the very beginning. On a February afternoon in 2008. At Starbucks.

Founders Mindy and Jackie were discussing what they wanted from a theatre company. They wanted a place where artists could take their passion and their ideas and run with them. A place where they could stay optimistic in a city that will tear you down. A place where people could keep their.... momentum.

And a theatre company was born. A theatre company with a kick-ass name and strong mission statement.

Have you ever taken a good, close look at our mission statement? Here it is. Give it a quick read-through. Go ahead! We'll wait.

Momentum Repertory Company will work to:

*Offer hands on experience to aspiring artists in multiple facets of theatre, including all aspects of artistic and production work.

*Offer New York City exposure to aspiring artists.

*Produce aesthetic, evocative productions which will heighten audience awareness of the many forms and diversities of New York City theatre.

*Foster the formation of a community in which aspiring artists' professional, artistic, and social skills are developed and encouraged.

*Offer scholarships to promote the artistic education of members of the New York City creative community.

Welcome back! Did you learn anything?

Believe it or not, this is MRC's FIFTH SEASON operating under this mission statement. And we've done our best to uphold it and use it to help make decisions along the way. But the truth is, we are naturally going to offer similar experiences over and over. Because we do what we know.

....and we may or may not have control issues...

Enter.... Project: Momentum.

For the next several months, we'll be offering projects inspired and organized by members of Momentum Repertory Company. We can't wait to see what they come up with!
