Project: Grateful

Members of Momentum Repertory Company represent the areas hardest-hit by Superstorm Sandy. We’re from New Jersey and Connecticut and Long Island and Staten Island and Brooklyn and Queens and Manhattan.  Some of us lost power. Some were temporarily displaced. Minor inconveniences compared to so many of our neighbors. We all got through the storm with our homes and our health. For that, we are grateful.

We have spent time in the days since Sandy helping however we can. Some are providing foster homes to temporarily homeless animals. Others are volunteering at soup kitchens. Our members have borrowed cars to drive supplies around the city and helped with the clean-up and even organized a group that will knit hats and scarves to keep the victims warm in the coming months. There is so much work to be done. But now it’s time for us to come together and do what we do best. Sing.

Next week Momentum Repertory Company will join forces with members of the Broadway Community to record John Bucchino’s “Grateful.” With an expected itunes release on Thanksgiving Day, all proceeds will be donated to Occupy Sandy. 

Of course recording studios and engineers and piano tuners and distributors all cost money. Fortunately, our friend Karie Picciano has generously offered to donate those costs by launching an online 31 party. All of her profits will go to cover our costs, and every penny raised above our costs will be added to our donation to Occupy Sandy.

Just so we're clear: she keeps nothing, we keep nothing. It all goes to help our neighbors.
